Religion, in the sense of organized religion, and in particular Christianity, is presented in a relatively hostile way in the Outer Limits revival series. In the original series and when mentioned in passing, Christianity or specifically Catholicism is given a pass, but in episodes focused on Christian themes, Christianity is frequently presented as a control system at best and a tool of religious right-wing fanatics at worst.

The Outer Limits has always had a clear leaning towards progressive, humanist and socially liberal politics, so it is natural that from that perspective religion and especially conservative Christianity would be portrayed in its negative aspects with a heavy focus on irrationality and controlling behavior. To its credit, however, The Outer Limits has also been able to show some positive results of faith and the principles that Christianity espouses.

More often than not, The Outer Limits has walked the fine line between story telling and anti-religious bigotry.
